Dear UFI Members in Asia,

A brief summary of recent and upcoming activities in the UFI Asia/Pacific office

Last month in Delhi, Mark Cochrane, UFI’s Regional Manager Asia Pacific, was a speaker at the 3rd
Expo Summit India. The theme of this year’s summit was “Partnerships as the Critical Route to
Success.” Mark presented on “The State of M&A in Asian Exhibitions.” Other sections featured Michael
Duck from UBM, Doug Emslie from Tarsus Group and Matthew Pearce of Diversified Communications
Asia. In total, more than 130 delegates from across the Indian exhibition industry gathered to learn
about the latest industry trends and developments.

The final revisions on the 7th edition of the UFI-BSG report, “The Trade Fair Industry in Asia” are nearly
complete. The report will be published by the end of June. At that time, an executive summary of this
report will be available for download for all UFI members. We will let you know when the executive
summary is posted online.

Mark will be attending the UFI Open Seminar in Ghent later this month where more than 200 delegates
have registered – including more than a dozen from Asia. We look forward to seeing some of you in
Ghent and for those of you who cannot attend you can follow the action on Twitter (#ufighent) and
download the presentations shortly after the seminar from the UFI website.

As usual, there have been plenty of membership inquiries. Jess has fielded inquiries from India, China,
Korea and Hong Kong. Across the region, we are now closing in on a record high of 170 members –
including 60 in China.

 

And if you have not visited www.ufi.org recently, please take a moment to check out our newly
revamped homepage. After months of hard work, the UFI team in Paris has done a fantastic job
designing a new online home for UFI. Drop by and let us know what you think of it!

 

Finally, an important reminder: by now, all of you should have received your ballot and instructions for
the election of our Asia Pacific Chapter leadership. Please be sure to vote for the candidates running
for chapter chairman and vice-chairman. If you have any questions, please contact us at asia@ufi.org.
