Objectives and Chair

The UFI Operations & Services Committee promotes personal and professional development by creating opportunities to meet interesting and inspiring people, inside and outside the industry. Through the sharing of knowledge and experience amongst like-minded, knowledgeable professionals, the committee facilitates learning specific to venue management and supporting services. The committee serves to address important and timely topics relevant to the industry by highlighting and sharing their findings with the wider UFI Community, and working with other committees to create a common thread.

Presently the Operations & Services Committee consists of representatives of international venue operators, representatives of international exhibition organizers with own exhibition venue and one representative of the UFI association.

The major mission of the Committee is organizing the annual Operations & Services Focus Meeting. With this Focus Meeting, the Committee provides a relevant platform for education and networking for the exhibition industry. Prior to the event organization, the committee members use their expertise and daily work experience to identify current operations-based topics in order to define the leading theme of the upcoming Focus Meeting. The entire program of the meeting which usually consists of several presentations and panel discussions is related to this leading theme. One important component of the Focus Meeting’s program is the presentation of the annual Survey on Operations which is also initiated by the Operations & Services Committee. In one of the several working meetings prior to the Focus Meeting, the Committee creates a questionnaire which covers the leading theme of the upcoming Focus Meeting and is usually addressed to venue operators, exhibition organizers and exhibition-related service providers.

Another important activity of the Operations Committee is the organization of the annual UFI Operations & Services Award. The theme of this honorable award is usually equal to the topic of the current Focus Meeting and so to the current research project. With this open competition the Committee created a tool to reward the best exhibition industry initiatives connected to operations issues.

In terms of sustainability the regularly published UFI Insight gives a detailed overview about all valuable information due to the operational activities of the Committee members.
