Objectives and Chair

The UFI Operations & Services Working Group promotes personal and professional development by creating opportunities to meet interesting and inspiring people, both from within and outside the exhibition industry. The Working Group facilitates learning specifics relating to venue management and supporting services, through the sharing of knowledge and experience amongst professionals.

The Working Group members address important and timely topics within their field that are relevant to the industry, and share those findings with the wider UFI community through the awards scheme, industry research and the organization of forums (the next Operations and Services Forum is scheduled to take place from 14 – 15 May 2019 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK).

The forums are must-attend events for operational and service professionals from middle to senior management who wish to benefit from the sharing of high level expertise and knowledge. Each year, a specific theme is chosen by the Working Group members that will be featured throughout the forum, and the 2019 theme will be “Productivity improvements in operations through SMART technologies (logistics, safety, security, navigation and mobility). During the forum, the results of the most recent survey on this very theme will be shared with the participants, as will the award-winning ideas of the three finalists of the 2019 Operations and Services Award. Another important activity of the Operations and Services Working Group is the organization of the annual UFI Operations & Services Award, as mentioned above. This competition is open to all, and seeks to reward the best exhibition industry initiatives relating to specific operational issues.

At present, the Operations & Services Working Group consists of representatives of international venue operators and/or exhibition organizers, global service providers and an international industry association.
